Spy Pond Trails Day, Saturday, May 12
Fishermen, joggers, and birders know something the rest of us may not:the path along the southern shore of Spy Pond, Arlington, is getting afacelift. One day this May,volunteers will converge on Spy Pond as they have for the past two years, toprune back vistas, replace eroded paths with stone steps, and hack away atinvasive plants that threatened to choke the views, the native flora, and thefishing. The Appalachian MountainClub’s professional Trail Crew will provide hands-on—and feets-on—training andsupervision, local merchants are donating a picnic lunch worthy of a medievalfeast, the Town of Arlington is donating the stone for the trail work, and forsix action-packed hours, volunteers from near and far will be making thingshappen.
Come join us and learn a thing or two about trail building from the bestof the best, the AMC Trail Crew. Or just get better acquainted with this beautiful corner of Spy Pond, and with your neighbors, bicyclists, joggers, birders, fishermen, Boy Scouts,Girl Scouts, abutters, and others.
